Eighteen Islamabad Housing Society Interchange Construction Approved by NHA

eighteen house project

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has finally granted approval to construct an interchange near the M-I and M-II Motorway link road in Islamabad. This decision came after the intervention of the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman), Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, addressing long-standing delays and providing relief to the residents of the housing society involved.

Background of the Approval

The matter was initiated when Elite Estate (Pvt) Ltd., the developers of a prominent housing society near the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway, submitted an application in 2019 to the NHA. They deposited:

  • A processing fee of Rs. 5 million for the interchange construction approval.
  • A cheque of Rs. 72,585,000/- along with a detailed design of the interchange for consideration.

Despite fulfilling all the necessary requirements, the project faced unnecessary delays, causing inconvenience to the residents.

Role of the Wafaqi Mohtasib

To resolve the issue, the developers approached the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat. The Ombudsman took prompt action, holding a series of hearings to investigate the matter. After thorough deliberation, the Ombudsman directed the NHA to move forward with the project, which led to the much-anticipated approval of the interchange.

Benefits of the Approved Interchange

The newly approved interchange near the M-I and M-II Motorway link road is set to bring several benefits to the housing society and its residents:

  1. Improved Accessibility: Direct connectivity to the Motorway will make commuting easier and faster for residents.
  2. Enhanced Property Value: Interchanges typically lead to a rise in real estate value, making this an excellent opportunity for homeowners and investors.
  3. Reduced Travel Time: The interchange will minimize travel time to key locations in Islamabad and surrounding areas.
  4. Convenience for Residents: The resolution of this issue reflects the commitment of the authorities to address citizen grievances.

Acknowledgment by the Housing Society

The Head of Elite Estate (Pvt) Ltd. expressed gratitude to the Wafaqi Mohtasib for their timely intervention. In a letter, they thanked the Ombudsman for ensuring that justice was served and the NHA took swift action to approve the project.

Why This Development Matters

The approval of the interchange highlights the role of the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat in resolving public complaints effectively. It also underscores the importance of infrastructure development for housing societies, paving the way for better living standards and increased economic activity in the region.

Conclusion

The NHA’s approval to construct the interchange marks a positive milestone for the residents of the housing society. This development reflects how collaborative efforts between public institutions and private entities can bring about meaningful change.
